The Irish Pub is an embodiment of Irish tradition, an ambassador of vibrant and living culture. Good beer, good music and hearty food combine with 'Craic' (an indefinable, uniquely Irish sense of fun), to create a sense of welcome and belonging that exudes from the very woodwork. The pub is a homey kind of place, full of warmth and generosity that is intrinsically Irish. The Black Rose is designed to merge the Irish culture with the convenience and nuances of it's adopted home, Grand Rapids. It is a place to meet a business client, join your friends for a 'session' or simply relax with a pint and a good book.
The Black Rose is a modern day haven in a traditional setting-where hustle meets away and the serious business of pleasure begins! The Irish have a love for traveling, tradition, and story telling. There are lots of tales like that of An Roisin Dubb- The Black Rose. The Song, An RÓisín Dubh, is said to have originated in the camps of Red Hugh O'Donnel. Originally, the dark rose referred to the poet's beloved, but as the lyrics revolved between the 16th and 19th century, it came to represent Ireland. The intimate tone of the original carries over into the political song.
